Garage Door Repair in Coral Gables, FL
City of Coral Gables · ZIP 33134 — doors that respect the look of the house and the wind code.
Coral Gables is about five miles northeast of our office. George Merrick's planned city was incorporated on April 29, 1925, and City Hall stands at 405 Biltmore Way. The city runs from the Biltmore district south to Biscayne Bay, past Cocoplum and Gables by the Sea.

Housing in Coral Gables splits roughly in half. Of its 22,020 homes, about 50 percent are single-family detached, a quarter are in buildings of 50 units or more, and about 18 percent were built before 1950. The city was planned around a Mediterranean theme, and the Merrick family's cottage addition used native coral rock quarried from what became the Venetian Pool.
Design review is the local rule. The city's Design Best Practices guide, written for its Board of Architects, says a street-facing garage may not take more than a third of the width of the front facade, and on a local historic landmark a Certificate of Appropriateness comes before the building permit for exterior work. A door here has to meet the wind code and the eye of the review board.

🌊 What Coral Gables Garage Doors Are Up Against
The crew comes in on US-1 and Red Road, which runs along the University of Miami campus, and works quietly in the Gables neighborhoods. When a new door is on the table we show carriage-house and Mediterranean-style profiles rather than a stock raised-panel, and we ask whether the house is a local landmark before anything is ordered.
