Emergencies here follow the weather. Before a hurricane DASMA advises closing the door and leaving it closed, engaging a manual lock if the door has one, and disconnecting the opener while the door is locked. It also advises against parking a vehicle against the door, which gives it no reinforcement. DASMA notes that when a garage opening is breached in high wind, pressure can build in the garage and damage the roof. After a storm, look from inside with the door closed, and if anything is out of line, do not operate it and call a trained technician.
